Decision approving the appointment of Baroness Catherine Margaret Ashton of Upholland, as a Member of the Commission

The European Parliament adopted, by 538 votes to 40 with 63 abstentions, a resolution approving the appointment of Catherine Margaret Ashton, Baroness Ashton of Upholland, as a Member of the Commission for the remainder of the Commission's term of office until 31 October 2009. The appointment follows the resignation of Peter Mandelson as a Member of the Commission, tendered on 3 October 2008.
