The Committee on Constitutional Affairs adopted, according to the simplified procedure (Rule 43(1) of the Rules of Procedure), the report drafted by Jo LEINEN (PES, DE) on a draft amendment of the Interinstitutional Agreement of 17 May 2006 (IIA) between the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission on budgetary discipline and sound financial management approving the amendment of the Interinstitutional Agreement as agreed upon at the conciliation meeting of 21 November 2008 (refer to the summary of the amended draft budget BUD/2008/2026).
The amendment aims to include a sentence in the IIA stipulating that the amount of the Emergency Aid Reserve shall be exceptionally increased to EUR 479.218 million for the year 2008 in current prices. This amount will cover the needs of the new Food Facility for rapid response to soaring prices in developing countries.
