The Committee on Budgets adopted a report by Reimer BOGE (EPP-ED, DE) on the proposal for a decision of the European Parliament and of the Council on mobilisation of the European Union Solidarity Fund, in accordance with point 26 of the Interinstitutional Agreement of 17 May 2006 between the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission on budgetary discipline and sound financial management. The report referred to the application submitted by Romania to mobilise the Fund, concerning a disaster caused by floods.
The report states that, in the general budget of the European Union for the financial year 2009, the European Union Solidarity Fund shall be mobilised to provide the sum of EUR 11 785 377 in commitment and payment appropriations. In parallel to this proposal, the Commission has presented an amending budget (AB No 1/2009) in order to enter in the 2009 budget the corresponding commitment and payment appropriations (refer to BUD/2009/2008).
