PURPOSE: to conclude a Protocol enabling Romania and Bulgaria to accede to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and Uzbekistan.
LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council and Commission Decision 2009/50/EC, Euratom on the conclusion of the Protocol to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Uzbekistan, of the other part, to take account of the Accession of the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union.
CONTENT: the Protocol to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Uzbekistan, of the other part, to take account of the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union is hereby approved on behalf of the Community, the European Atomic Energy Community and the Member States.
To recall, the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Uzbekistan (AVC/1996/0151), of the other part, entered into force on 1 July 1999.
ENTRY INTO FORCE: the Protocol shall enter into force once all the corresponding procedures have been completed. Pending its entry into force, the Protocol has been applied on a provisional basis as from 1 January 2007.
