PURPOSE: to conclude a Protocol enabling Romania and Bulgaria to accede to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and the Kyrgyz Republic.
LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council and Commission Decision 2009/82/EC, Euratom on the conclusion of the Protocol to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Kyrgyz Republic, of the other part, to take account of the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union.
CONTENT: the Protocol to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Kyrgyz Republic, of the other part, to take account of the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union is hereby approved on behalf of the Community, the European Atomic Energy Community and the Member States.
To recall, the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Kyrgyz Republic entered into force on 1 July 1999 (see AVC/1994/0224).
ENTRY INTO FORCE: the Protocol shall enter into force once all the corresponding procedures have been completed. Pending its entry into force, the Protocol has been applied on a provisional basis as from 1 January 2007.
