Decision approving the appointment of Baroness Catherine Margaret Ashton of Upholland, as a Member of the Commission

PURPOSE: to appoint Baroness Ashton of Upholland, as a Member of the Commission for the remainder of the Commission's term of office until 31 October 2009.

LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Decision 2008/779/EC, Euratom appointing a new member of the Commission of the European Communities

CONTENT: the Council adopted this Decision appointing Baroness Catherine Margaret ASHTON OF UPHOLLAND a member of the Commission for the period from 6 October 2008 to 31 October 2009. This follows the resignation of Peter Mandelson from the Commission in a letter dated 3 October 2008.
