PURPOSE: to repeal Directive 83/515/EEC and 11 obsolete Decisions in the field of the Common Fisheries Policy.
LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Decision 2009/447/EC repealing Directive 83/515/EEC and 11 obsolete Decisions in the field of the Common Fisheries Policy.
CONTENT: the Council adopted a Decision and Regulation repealing 14 regulations, one directive and 11 decisions in the field of the Common Fisheries Policy.
In particular, this Decision provides that the following directives and Decision are repealed: Directive 83/515/EEC and Decisions 89/631/EEC, 94/117/EC 94/317/EC, 94/318/EC, 1999/386/EC, 2001/179/EC, 2001/382/EC, 2001/431/EC, 2004/662/EC, 2004/890/EC and 2005/76/EC.
These legal acts have become obsolete even though formally they were still in force, and they are here repealed for reasons of legal clarity and security. This removal from active legislation of acts which no longer have real effect is in line with the better-lawmaking strategy of the EU institutions.
