Animal and public health: third countries authorised to import certain animals and fresh meat, and the veterinary certification requirements

2009/0146(COD)

The European Parliament adopted by 533 votes to 9, with 16 abstentions, a legislative resolution on the proposal for a decision of the European Parliament and of the Council repealing Council Decision 79/542/EEC drawing up a list of third countries or parts of third countries, and laying down animal and public health and veterinary certification conditions, for importation into the Community of certain live animals and their fresh meat.

The European Parliament’s position adopted at first reading under the ordinary legislative procedure (formerly known as the codecision procedure) takes over the Commission proposal unamended.
