PURPOSE: to approve, on behalf of the European Union, the draft Regulation of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe concerning Pedestrian Safety and to the draft Regulation of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe concerning Light Emitting Diode (LED) light sources together with its corrigenda.
PROPOSED ACT: Council Decision.
IMPACT ASSESSMENT: no impact assessment was carried out.
CONTENT: this proposal aims to adopt, on behalf of the EU, the standardised requirements of the draft Regulation of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to Pedestrian Safetyand the draft UNECE Regulation on provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to Light Emitting Diode (LED) light sources.
It is appropriate to define the European Union position with regard to the said draft Regulations and consequently to provide for the European Union, represented by the Commission, to vote in favour of these drafts.
BUDGETARY IMPLICATION: this proposal has no implications for the EU budget.
