PURPOSE: codification of Council Directive 85/337/EEC on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment.
LEGISLATIVE ACT: Directive 2011/92/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment.
CONTENT: Council Directive 85/337/EEC of 27 June 1985 on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment has been substantially amended several times. In the interests of clarity and rationality, the aim of this Directive is to codify the said Directive.
The new Directive will supersede the various acts incorporated in it. It fully preserves the content of the acts being codified and hence does no more than bring them together with only such formal amendments as are required by the codification exercise itself.
