The European Parliament delivered a negative opinion on the Council's nomination of Neven MATES (HR) as a Member of the Court of Auditors. Mr MATES’s appointment was rejected by 396 votes to 231, with 45 abstentions.
To recap, Mr MATES was evaluated by the competent parliamentary committee in accordance with Article 286(2). Following his hearing, the committee in question concluded his credentials were inappropriate for the post.
