Mobilisation of the EU Solidarity Fund: drought in Romania in 2012 and flooding in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic in 2013
The Committee on Budgets unanimously adopted the report by José Manuel FERNANDES (EPP, PT) on the proposal for a decision of the European Parliament and of the Council on mobilisation of the European Union Solidarity Fund, in accordance with point 26 of the Interinstitutional Agreement of 17 May 2006 between the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission on budgetary discipline and sound financial management (drought and forest fires in Romania and floods in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic).
The proposed Decision seeks to mobilise EUR 400 519 089 in commitment and payment appropriations in 2013 to assist:
- Romania hit by drought and forest fires;
- Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic following floods.
In parallel to the proposal, a draft amending budget has been presented in order to enter in the 2013 budget the corresponding commitment and payment appropriations (see 2013/2257(BUD)).
