PURPOSE: to renew the Agreement on cooperation in science and technology between the European Community and India.
PROPOSED ACT: Council Decision.
BACKGROUND: by Decision 2002/648/EC, the Council approved the conclusion of the Agreement for scientific and technological cooperation between the European Community and India.
By its Decision 2009/501/EC, the Council renewed the Agreement for a further period of five years and is due to expire on 17 May 2015.
The Parties to the Agreement consider that a rapid renewal of the Agreement would be in their mutual interest.
It is now necessary to renew the Agreement.
CONTENT: this proposal called on the Council to renew the Agreement for scientific and technological cooperation between the European Community and India, for an additional period of five years.
The content of the renewed Agreement is identical to the content of the Agreement in force.
