EC/India Agreement for scientific and technological cooperation: renewal of the Agreement

PURPOSE: to renew the Agreement for scientific and technological cooperation between the European Community and India.

NON-LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Decision (EU) 2015/1788 concerning the renewal of the Agreement for scientific and technological cooperation between the European Community and the Government of the Republic of India.

CONTENT: under this Council Decision, the renewal of the Agreement for scientific and technological cooperation between the European Community (now the European Union) and the Government of the Republic of India, for an additional period of 5 years, is hereby approved on behalf of the European Union.

To recall, by Decision 2002/648/EC, the Council approved the conclusion of the Agreement for scientific and technological cooperation between the European Community and the Government of the Republic of India. It is provided that the Agreement is concluded for a period of 5 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement between the Parties. By Decision 2009/501/EC of the Council (4), the Agreement was renewed for a further period of 5 years and is due to expire on 17 May 2015.

The Parties to the Agreement considered that a rapid renewal of the Agreement would be in their mutual interest. The content of the renewed Agreement should be identical to the content of the Agreement.
