Specific measures for additional assistance to Member States affected by natural disasters

The European Parliament adopted by 625 votes to 5, with 28 abstentions, a legislative resolution on the proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EU) No 1303/2013 as regards specific measures to provide additional assistance to Member States affected by natural disasters.

The European Parliament’s position adopted at first reading, following the ordinary legislative procedure, amended the Commission proposal.

The proposed amended Regulation provides for the possibility to introduce a separate priority axis, with a co-financing rate of up to 95%, within an operational programme to support operations under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) set by the Regulation (EU) No 1301/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council with a view to providing additional assistance to Member States affected by natural disasters.

An amendment stipulated that the amount allocated to these operations shall not exceed 5 % of the total ERDF allocation in a Member State for the 2014-2020 programming period.
