EC/Ukraine Agreement on cooperation in science and technology: renewal of the Agreement
The European Parliament adopted by 671 votes to 10, with 9 abstentions a legislative resolution on the draft Council decision concerning the renewal of the Agreement on cooperation in science and technology between the European Community and Ukraine.
Following the recommendation of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, the European Parliament gave its consent to the renewal of the Agreement.
The Council's draft concerns the approval, on behalf of the Union, of the renewal of the Agreement for scientific and technological cooperation between the European Community and Ukraine for an additional period of five years with effect from 8 November 2019.
It is recalled that the Agreement for scientific and technological cooperation between the European Community and Ukraine was signed in Brussels on 4 July 2002 and entered into force on 11 February 2003. The Agreement was renewed for additional five-year periods, with retroactive effect to 8 November 2009 and 8 November 2014 respectively. The agreement expired on 7 November, 2019.
