European system of national and regional accounts in the European Community (ESA 95)

The Committee adopted the report. No further amendments were submitted and all those proposed by the rapporteur were adopted. The report had a double objective: to permit the implementation of a methodology (the European system of accounts - ESA) for compiling accounts and tables on the basis of comparable data (Annex A) and to guarantee the conditions needed for the transmission of data by a programme for the transmission of national accounts data (Annex B). The most important of the amendments adopted relate to: greater emphasis on transparency, the ending of additional time periods for the transfer of data by Member States beyond 1 January 1995, and measures designed to prevent normal rules of confidentiality from standing in the way of the objectives of comparability and compatibility of ESA statistical data. �
