Oil and fibre plants: marketing of seed

PURPOSE: To amend EU provisions on the marketing of seed oil and fibre plants. CONTENT: The existing 1969 Directive on the marketing of seed of oil and fibre plants does not contain any reference to seeds of a hybrid variety (other than sunflowers) or seed of varietal association. This proposal therefore aims to: - In the case of hybrid varieties, provide a legal basis to include, through a Standing Committee procedure, their seed and - In the case of varietal associations to included their seed in the scope of the 1969 Directive. Such an approach would take into account the increased importance in the Community of this seed.�
