The committee adopted the recommendation for second reading (codecision procedure) by Alexander de ROO (Greens/EFA, NL) amending the Council's common position on limiting the noise of motor vehicle tyres on road surfaces. Although the committee basically welcomed the common position, it felt that limit values should be even stricter to achieve a noticeable reduction in noise levels, arguing that noise could be reduced without jeopardising tyre safety by lowering the limit values by at least two extra decibels.�
