EC/Mauritania fisheries agreement: protocol for the period from 1st August 2001 to 31 July 2006

The committee adopted the report by Pat the Cope GALLAGHER (UEN, IRL) approving the proposal under the consultation procedure subject to a few amendments. In view of the financial and social importance of targeted measures, which had been given a new emphasis under the Protocol, the committee wanted the Commission to forward to Parliament and the Council the annual report on targeted measures which the Mauritanian authorities were now required to provide. Moreover, before the start of negotiations to renew the Protocol, the committee wanted the Commission to submit to Parliament and the Council a report on the implementation of the Agreement, including a cost benefit analysis.�
