EC/Sao Tome e Principe fisheries agreement: protocol for the period from 1st June 1995 to 31st May 1999

In adopting the report by Mr Allan MACARTNEY (ARE, UK), the European Parliament approved the proposal for a regulation on the conclusion of a new fisheries protocol between the Community and S·o Tomé and Principe with the following amendments: -the information provided to the budgetary authority should be improved in order to facilitate the taking of decisions during the budgetary procedure, -during the final year of application of the protocol (and before the conclusion of any agreement to renew it), the Commission should submit a report to Parliament and the Council on the conditions governing the implementation of the agreement. On the basis of this report and after consulting the European Parliament, the Council may give the Commission a new mandate to negotiate on the renewal of the fisheries protocol. �
