European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction EMCDDA

The European Parliament adopted a resolution drafted by Ozan CEYHUN (PES, D) by 273 votes in favour, 225 against and 6 abstentions on the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction. The main amendments were as follows:
- Parliament deleted the provisions stating that it no longer be represented on the EMCDDA's Management Board. Instead Parliament provided that two Members of the European Parliament should represent it on the Management Board;
- it also deleted the provisions relating to the establishment of a Steering Committee;
- Parliament emphasized the importance of the evaluation of trends in consumption and supply;
- Regulation 45/2001/EC shall apply to the processing of personal data by the Centre;
- the seat of the Centre shall remain in Lisbon.�
