Common classification of territorial units for statistics (NUTS) following the 2004 enlargement

The European Parliament adopted the resolution drafted by Gerardo GALEOTE QUECEDO (EPP-ED, ES) and approved the Commission’s proposal. It supported the Commission in submitting a communication to the European Parliament and the Council on the appropriateness of establishing rules on a Europe-wide basis for more detailed levels in the NUTS classification, as provided for in Article 2(5) of Regulation 1059/2003/EC on the establishment of NUTS.
