Republic of Slovenia: application for accession to the European Union

PURPOSE : to accept the applications from the ten candidate countries to become Member States of the European Union. LEGISLATIVE ACT : Decision 2003/0923(01) of the Council of the European Union on the admission of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Cyprus, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Malta, the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovak Republic to the European Union. CONTENT : the Council of the European Union has decided to accept the applications of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Cyprus, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Malta, the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovak Republic for admission to the European Union. The conditions of admission and the adjustments to the Treaties on which the European Union is founded, entailed by such admission, are the subject of a separate treaty, which is annexed to this Decision. The treaty was the subject of an agreement between the existing Member States and the ten new Member States and was approved in Athens on 16 April 2003. It enters into force on 1 May 2003.�
