PURPOSE: to conclude, on behalf of the Union and its Member States, a Protocol amending the Agreement on Air Transport between Canada and the European Community and its Member States, to take account of the accession to the European Union of Croatia.

ROLE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT: Council may adopt the act only if Parliament has given its consent to the act.
BACKGROUND: the Protocol amending the Agreement on Air Transport between Canada and the European Community and its Member States, to take account of the accession to the European Union of Croatia has been signed, subject to its conclusion. It is now necessary to approve the Protocol.
CONTENT: the draft Council Decision seeks the approval on behalf of the Union and its Member States, a Protocol amending the Agreement on Air Transport between Canada and the European Community and its Member States, to take account of the accession to the European Union of Croatia.
Under this Protocol, Croatia is a Party to the Agreement on Air Transport signed by Canada and the European Community and its Member States on 17 December 2009.
