The Committee on Legal Affairs adopted the report drawn up by Tadeusz ZWIEFKA (EPP, PL) on the request for defence of the immunity and privileges of Tobias Pflüger (a former German GUE/NGL Member) recommending that his immunity should not be defended.
Parliament, in fact, already dealt with the same set of facts back in 2006. At the time, it decided, in an ad hoc resolution, to recommend the waiver of Tobias Pflüger's immunity, considering that the case fell under Article 10(1)(a) of the Protocol on Privileges and Immunities of 1965, that his political activity was not negatively affected
In the Members’ view, there is, therefore, no reason for Parliament to take a position on the same set of facts.
As a result, the parliamentary committee calls on the European Parliament not to defend the immunity and privileges of Tobias Pflüger.
