PURPOSE: to amend the common organisation of the market in fruit and vegetables, in processed fruit and vegetables and finally, the aid scheme for producers of certain citrus fruits.
COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation 2699/2000/EC, amending Regulation 2200/96/EC on the common organisation of the market in fruit and vegetables, Regulation 2201/96/EC on the common organisation of the market in processed fruit and vegetables and Regulation 2202/96/EC introducing a Community aid scheme for producers of certain citrus fruits.
CONTENT: The main provisions, inter alia, of the Regulation are the following:
- producer organisations and their associations shall pay their producer members the Community withdrawl compensation up to a limit of 5% for citrus fruits, of 8.5% for apples and pears and of 10% for other products, of the marketed quantity. These ceilings shall apply from the 2002/03 marketing year. For the 2001/2 marketing year, the ceilings shall be 10% for citrus fruit and water melons and 20% for other products;
- Regulation EC/2201/96 is amended to allow the introduction of a Community aid scheme to assist producer organisations supplying tomatoes, peaches and pears harvested in the Community;
- aid shall be granted to producer organisations for the quantities of raw materials supplied for processing under contracts as follows: EUR 34,50/tonne for tomatoes, EUR 47,70/tonne for peaches and EUR 161,70/tonne for pears;
- specific arrangements for the first three marketing years for tomatoes;
- quality and quantity checks;
- criteria regarding the minimum price to be paid to producers;
- production aid and the price of raw materials;
- as regards Regulation EC/2202/96, the amendment, among others, states that aid shall be granted to producer organisations for the quantities delivered for processing under the contracts referred to in the amending Regulation. ENTRY INTO FORCE: This Regulation shall enter into force on 15.12.2000.�
