The committee adopted the report by Jan Mulder (ELDR, NL) approving Draft Amending Budget 1/2004 (Section III - Commission) unamended. The DAB provides extra funding to enable the European Union to deal with the arrival of the ten new Member States on 1 May 2004. MEPs noted that, with the adoption of this Amending Budget, the principle of the unity of the EU budget, as enshrined in Article 4 of the Financial Regulation, will be re-established. Consequently, there will be just a single budget for the future 25-member European Union.
The committee also recommended that the budget for EU-25 be published by the Commission in the Official Journal, for the purposes of greater budgetary transparency.�
