PURPOSE: The adoption of a new Fishing Protocol between the European Community and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
CONTENT: On 31 July 2001, the Protocol to the Fisheries Agreement between the European Community and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania expired. A new Protocol was initialled by both parties on 31 July 2001 fixing the technical and financial conditions governing the fishing activities of Community vessels in these waters during the period 1 August 2001 to 31 July 2006. The Commission proposes therefore that the Council adopt the new Protocol by Regulation.�
