Agenda 2000: milk and milk products, reform of the common organisation of the market COM

In the light of the agreement reached on Agenda 2000 at the Berlin Summit in March and under consultation procedure, the European Parliament adopted the second report by Lutz Goepel (PPE,DE), which approves the Commission proposal for a Council regulation on the common organisation of the market in milk and milk products, subject to the amendments adopted by the Parliament on 28/01/99 and one other new amendment which requires the Commission to submit, by 31/12/2002, a report on the regulation's application, presenting: - proposals enabling the percentage, in relation to the target price for milk for the levy payable if the individual milk quota is exceeded to be set annually for the forhtecoming 12-month period (greater flexibility in the superlevy); - proposals for the structure of the COM with regard to the quota arrangements as soon as possible; - proposals for adapting these measures to market and storage conditions with regard to milk products intended for the manufacture of cheese.�
