In adopting the report by Mr Peter SKINNER (PSE, UK) on removing certain obstacles to trade,
Parliament rejected virtually all the amendments tabled by the Committee on Economic and
Monetary Affairs and Industrial Policy. Only three of the 14 amendments tabled were adopted.
Except for Amendment 1, reaffirming that freedom of movement for workers is one of the
fundamental principles of the Community, all the other amendments seeking to include free
movement of workers in the proposal for a regulation in parallel with free movement of goods
were rejected.
